The 10th Annual Patroon Chapter Concours

On Saturday, June 6, our neighbors of the Albany, NY area held their 10th annual Concours d’elegance at Keeler BMW in Latham NY. The event offered a little something for everyone, a car show, a country drive and food. What more could any self-respecting BMW fan ask for?

The Patroon affair is a judged event with classes for Clean (exterior & interior), Super Clean (Clean + engine bay) and Concours (Super Clean + under carriage). Cars were broken into categories for Classic, (approximately 1960’s and 70’s), Second Generation, (1980’s), Third Generation, (1990’s), Fourth Generation, (2000’s) Fifth Generation, including E90, E92, E60, E63, E65, new Z4, Modified/Tuner vehicles and finally the “Dirty Dog”.  A total of 48 cars came out to see and be seen.

Despite heavy rain on Friday night, Saturday turned out bright, sunny & warm. The parking lot opened at 9:00 with the call for “Rags Down” at 10:00 when judging started. At 12:00, the participants and organizers were provided lunch by the Keeler group, after which there was some more time for gawking at the awesome cars while the judges crunched the numbers. At approximately 2:00 the agenda called for a drive in the scenic and challenging foothills of the Adirondacks. To keep the crowd happy, two drives were offered, a leisurely “cruise” and a more “technical” drive with some great scenic and twisty roads. The ultimate destination of the drive was Skidmore College in Saratoga NY where a full banquet dinner awaited. Finally it was the moment of truth, time for the awards ceremony. Unfortunately, the CVC representatives were not able to garner any trophies for the day. All in all it was a well organized and very enjoyable day.
