On Sunday, March 14, 25 determined Michael Schumachers descended upon On Track Karting to see who the hottest shoe was. The group was broken into 3 smaller heats, to minimize the congestion on the track, and everyone got to run 2 good heats. The racing was fast and furious, with a few “excuse me” bumps that any NASCAR veteran would have been proud of. When all the racing was done, Carl (Bob) Sayers barely edged out Steve Wasley, with Keith (Topmucker) Liggett coming in third. Our British guest, Mike Polson, had the biggest improvement from the first heat to the second, in spite of having the handicap of having to drive on the wrong side of the track, according to him.
After the racing was over, most of the crowd went next door for pizza and bench racing. We had a nice mixture of club members, some new club members, and some guests of club members, with a wide range of experience. But in the end, everyone agreed it was a great time, and should be repeated.
